The Coalition of Women for Peace (CWP)

The Coalition of Women for Peace (CWP) is a leading feminist movement working to end the Israeli occupation in the Palestinian territories and empower Jewish and Palestinian women in Israel as key actors in the struggle for peace and justice in the Middle East region. CWP was founded in November 2000 and brings together women's peace organizations. The work of CWP ranges from campaigning, outreach and political empowerment to investigating the economy of the occupation and supporting international economy-based campaigns. CWP courageously led the public protest in Israel against the Second Lebanon War in 2006, the Gaza War in winter 2008/09, and continues to amplify feminist voices for peace and justice.

The project "Feminist Peace Initiative in Russian (FORA)" is a feminist forum of Russian-speaking immigrant women in CWP. There are about one million Russian-speaking Israelis, mostly misinformed about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and civil rights in Israel. By using feminist tools, this pioneering initiative creates a leadership of Russian-speaking women committed to peace, equality and social justice. FORA directly challenges all forms of discrimination and oppression, racism, sexism and homophobia among the Russian-speaking public and the general Israeli society.
