Cinema Rosa - "Berlin: Symphony of a Metropolis"
Once a month we present a film that either deals with German history, political and social developments in Germany and Europe, or reflects different aspects of German-Israeli relations.
As first film in our new series about “Berlin in history and present” we will show in January
Berlin: Symphony of a Metropolis (1927)
The famous silent film by Walter Ruttmann portrays the life of a city, mainly through visual impressions in a semi-documentary style, without the narrative content of more mainstream films, though the sequencing of events can imply a kind of loose theme or impression of the city's daily life. The film pays homage to the metropolis Berlin, to the pulse of modern life and to the city as one big social organism.
A short introduction will be given by Dr. Ofer Ashkenazy from Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
Date: 4 January 2012
Place: RLS-Büro Tel Aviv, Nachmani Str. 26
Time: 7pm
The duration of the film is 65 min.
