Adva Center

The Adva Center is a think tank that analyzes social and economic trends and measures public policy in Israel against the yardsticks of equality and social justice. Aided by unique databases developed at the Center, Adva is the only non-governmental body in Israel that monitors budget-making in real time, measuring allocations against needs.

Adva publishes periodical reports on a variety of issues, from the connection between economic growth and income distribution to the inequality among different localities in Israel with regard to income, educational achievement and health. Publications are user-friendly; they are distributed as a public service to legislators, decision-makers, civil society activists, scholars and media representatives.

WebSite: www.adva.org

The project "Action-orientated Research for Public Education in Israel" proposes to fill the vacuum of solid social analysis about Israel’s education system and to engage in political education. Three new social policy reports to be published in 2009, 2010 and 2011 will analyze and describe the status of the educational sector by examining the relevant state policies of the last two decades as well as their outcomes. Based on the results of the research, long-range goals will be defined for the further development of Israeli education. Following the publication of each report, advocacy work will be done in order to bring the results to the attention of decision makers and the media and to put the issues on the public agenda.
